The Guernsey sweater or ?fisherman?s sweater? was first created over 400 years ago, and is still very much in demand today.
Guernseys are very tightly knitted, so they offer excellent insulation as well as being resistant to wind and rain. Made to last, they traditionally had the same design on the front and back, so if any part suffered from wear the sweater could simply be worn the other way round.
This hardwearing example is made from 100% British wool with the classic textured patterns, but it?s cut for modern day practicality with a looser fitting and side vents for ease of movement.
